French Fridays with Dorie brings us another fun & easy recipe this week.  I cheated a bit and only used ingredients that I had on hand, but I really enjoyed my version of Dorie's Nutella Tartine. This was such a simple recipe that even a young child could make on their own.  I used some of my leftover homemade white bread from my Tuesdays with Dorie group and toasted it up with a little butter.

This week I chose to rewind & try a recipe that I missed ... cauliflower gratin.  We had ours for dinner with a big salad and some bread and it was well received by all.  It was more egg-y than I expected, so I thought it might be perfect for brunch or breakfast party. This week's FFWD recipe was bubble-top brioche rolls ... a recipe I looked forward to trying. I doubled the recipe, but so far I've only baked 6 rolls.  Just enough for everyone to have a taste.  I'll save the rest of my dough for Sunday or Monday dinner since the dough can stay in the fridge for up to 3 days. I was so proud of myself when I finally got a French Friday with Dorie recipe done before a Friday ... I made my Baked recipe a couple of weeks ago, but haven't gotten around to blogging about it until now.  I have mixed feelings about this recipe.  The recipe was somewhat hard to follow and not clear about a few of the steps.  The recipe said things like, "whisking occasionally until mixture comes to a boil and has thickened...."  My thoughts after reading this were, "How thick is thickened"?

Now, if I was still a resident of Pittsburgh, I'd just join everyone else at church on Sunday and wear my favorite Steelers t-shirt with a skirt, but I'm afraid that might be frowned upon here in ol' AZ.  I guess we'll have to see how daring I'm feeling when Sunday rolls around. :)  But man oh man ... how I wish I was in Pittsburgh right now.  I know that city is going nuts preparing for Sunday.

I'm WAY behind in blogging.  Over a week ago, I prepared and taught lesson #3 from manual 3 to my laurel class.  Yesterday our bishop taught all the youth and I was thrilled to hear the girls answering his questions using the things we had talked about the previous week when we did lesson #3 ... it's nice to see that something stuck AND that they were paying attention to what I was teaching them!
